Day 7 - Thursday, 23 May 2002
Today was our second day at sea. We spent the day wandering the
ship. We went to a presentation by a Chef de Cuisine on the ship. He
described and demonstrated some of the meal preparation techniques the
use. I thought it was fascinating to learn that they don't use fire or a
hot element to cook. They use a magnetic induction process. The
"burner" is not hot to touch it, however, when a pan is placed on it,
heat is generated.
In the afternoon, we went to a wine tasting. It was interesting.
One of the ship's wine stewards provided 9 wines to sample while he spoke about
them. He also described the wine tasting process.
