Renton House Fire

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Although I had the week off from work, I still got out of bed at 5:00am.  This had been a very hot week, so I had all the windows open in the morning in attempt to switch some of the hot air inside with the cool air outside.  At about 6:30am, I heard some sirens nearby.  I turned on the scanner and learned that a house was on fire about half a mile from our place.  I went into the living room and could see a large thermal column to the south.  I could hear the crackling and popping of the flames.  I headed out to go check it out.  As I went to the garage, ash was falling on our front yard.

Here are some pictures of the incident.  From my vantage point, I couldn’t see the house that was on fire, only the suppression efforts.  Unfortunately, the house was fully involved when the first fire engine arrived.  Fortunately, there were no injuries.
