Fire Apparatus I haven’t seen yet.

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

Yesterday, I had a busy day traveling around the Seattle area.  I took Alexis to her class in Northgate and went looking for fire apparatus to photograph.  As I drove around the north end of Lake Washington, I stopped at Northshore Fire Station 51.  Their “new” Rescue 51 was parked out front going through the daily rig checks.  They actually acquired the truck in October of 2007.  The Batallion Chief there gave me a quick tour of the vehicle.  It was parked in the shade and made for some challenging photography.  Here it is.

Continuing into downtown Seattle to meet some family for lunch, I happened onto a couple of opportunities to see some of Seattle’s newest fire trucks.  The first shown here is Ladder 4, a 2009 Pierce 100ft tractor drawn aerial.  Ladder 10 received an identical truck.

The other aerial I saw is Ladder 1, a 2007 Spartan/Crimson 103ft tractor drawn aerial.

In addition to the aerials, I saw Engine 5′s new 2008 E-One Quest.  I will post it here shortly.

Good Weekend for Photography

Thursday, 18 June, UPS delivered a new camera lens I ordered.  It is a Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G.  Friday, I took it out to the annual Fire Department Day at the Museum of Flight to try it out.  I saw some interesting stuff.  First, Boeing Fire Department was displaying a new Oshkosh Striker ARFF vehicle.  They have only had it for two weeks.

The King County International Airport was showing their new Oshkosh Striker as well.  They have had it for about 8 months.

Saturday, there was an air show of sorts for helicopters in the Puget Sound region.  Here are a couple of pictures from that event.
